Can You Claim Rebates For Exercise Physiology?

This topic probably doesn’t need an entire blog post, but I will use it as an information post for you to check to see if your fund does indeed cover Exercise Physiology. The list below should include your health fund:

The size of your rebate will depend on your level of cover, however as long as you are seeing an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, then you will be eligible for a rebate.

The other question that we get asked a lot is, ‘Am I eligible for Medicare rebates or bulk-billing for Exercise Physiology?’ The answer to that question is that you certainly are, providing you meet certain criteria. The criteria are fairly simple as you must have;

  • A chronic condition (anything including, but not limited to arthritis, cardiac conditions, COPD, CAD, Diabetes, epilepsy, HIV, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, overactive/underactive thyroid, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and many more).
  • Complex care needs being managed by a medical practitioner (including a General Practitioner) under a shared care plan or under both a GP Management Plan or Team Care Arrangements.

If you have funding under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) our team are fully registered for this service and would love to help. If you are still unsure if you are eligible for any type of rebated session for Exercise Physiology services, please contact us directly and we will provide you with all of the information that you need. We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours in Health!
