WHAT IS Run Group?
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, or a total beginner, our run group class will allow you to push yourself, while enjoying the scenic views of nature in a variety of beautiful locations. The Shire, known for its gorgeous views and wildlife, is taken full advantage of in our run group sessions with changing trails and runs. This class will help you develop a love of running, as you take time out of your busy day to soak in the scenery around you. Each session will take you through a different path, perhaps to places right in your neighborhood, you never knew were there! This class adjusts to all levels, so that you can push yourself at your own pace, and your trainer will be there to support and guide you. So whether you’re training for a big race, or just trying to increase your cardiovascular fitness to keep up with your family, this is one session you’ll want to make part of your weekly schedule.
WHY SHOULD I TRY Run Group?
Running is an activity that people often add into their routine as a way to increase calorie expenditure. Often this happens with throwing on running shoes and hitting the pavement without planning or preparation. This tactic often results in injuries or quickly abandoned workout routines. If this has ever happened to you, or someone you know, then you’re aware that running isn’t always as simple as often perceived. Our run group session will allow you to implement consistency and technique into your routine in order to become a better runner. If you’re a complete novice, you may find that you interval in between walking and running, slowly increasing endurance and distance as you progress. If you’re a seasoned runner, you may use our run group sessions to change up your routine, and to supplement your running training. Our trainers are there to help guide you on technique and make any modifications and adjustments you may need. With our session variety and convenient locations, you’ll soon find your running rhythm, and look forward to each session as a new opportunity to push your limits and enjoy the landscape!
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Running has a myriad of proven benefits! Running even five-ten minutes a day is associated with a drastically reduced risk of dying from cardiovascular disease. Running can also increase joint strength, with one study of nearly 75,000 runners and walkers finding that runners were half as likely to suffer from knee osteoarthritis compared with walkers.
Of course calorie expenditure is one of the biggest benefits for those looking to decrease their weight. While calorie burn will vary person to person, on average calorie burn may equal about 62 calories per kilometer, for someone who weighs about 50-60kg depending on speed. Calorie expenditure will also be increased by elevation, making our run group session a great way to meet your caloric goals!

Improve your heart health
Well, it is probably obvious, but one of the best things that running can do for your overall health is to improve the efficiency of your heart. This means that by elevating your heart rate via a run session, you are training your heart to do less when you are resting. This has positive overall effects on your cardiovascular system because at rest your body just isn’t working as hard
Increase your aerobic fitness
There are different types of fitness, though when we say the word ‘fit’ or ‘fitness’, we do tend to think of the person that can run the furthest and not the person that can lift the most or throw the furthest. Aerobic simply means with oxygen, so aerobic fitness therefore means that your bodily systems that require oxygen exclusively to function are the ones that are trained in a run session.
Reduce your stress
Yes, seems odd, but it is true! What we call steady-state exercise has been shown to reduce stress. There is something about the rhythmic nature of running and jogging that has been shown to help us to clear our thoughts and clear our minds. How many times have you been for a walk, jog or run and had a ‘light bulb’ moment that you wouldn’t have had otherwise? Yes, there is something in running that helps us with that.
